The inspiration of Islands came from a matte-painting that I had to do in spring 2007. Initially, I had experimented with creating a 3D model of a tortoise and using Maya paint-effects to craft a tropical island but the time frame didn’t permit me to explore that route. Instead the end product became a montage of a number of photo images. Now I’m going to take a second crack at it – this time a little wiser, though also more ambitious.
